Port of Maceió Hosts Event Bringing Together Port Authorities to Discuss Sustainability

The Administration of the Port of Maceió hosted the 1st Itinerant General Assembly of 2025 of the Brazilian Association of Port and Waterway Entities (ABEPH), organized in partnership with the Port of Maceió and the Rio Grande do Norte Dock Company (CODERN), on the 26th and 27th. The event aimed to bring together the country's port authorities to discuss sustainability, addressing initiatives and solutions to make Brazilian ports more efficient, secure, and committed to best environmental practices.
In addition to representatives from the organizing bodies, the event was attended by PortosRio, PortosRS, CODEBA, Ceará Dock Companies, Ports of Paraná, Porto do Itaqui, Port of Santos, and Port of São Francisco do Sul, as well as the National Agency for Waterway Transport and the National Secretariat for Ports (SNPTA). On the first day of the Assembly (26th), participants took a guided tour of the Port of Maceió facilities, learning about its structure and operations.
On Thursday (27th), authorities gathered for a ceremony at the Passenger Terminal of the Port of Maceió. As part of the agenda, the event included a presentation on the Port of Maceió's planned investments through 2027, delivered by the port administrator, Diogo Holanda, along with lectures on port decarbonization, updates on future trends, and the development of a sustainable organizational culture.
The administrator of the Port of Maceió, Diogo Holanda, emphasized the importance of discussing sustainability in Brazilian ports and thanked ABEPH for holding the event in Maceió. "I would like to thank the Association for organizing this crucial meeting at our port. We are welcoming port authorities from all over the country to discuss this priority topic—sustainability—with the goal of making our ports increasingly committed to the environmental agenda," he stated.
