Ascom Porto de Maceió
The Patrol Ship "Macau," of the Brazilian Navy (MB), will dock at the Port of Maceió and be open for free public visitation this Sunday, January 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Built by the Indústria Naval do Ceará shipyard, the Patrol Ship "Macau" was incorporated into the MB in 2010. Under the jurisdiction of the Command of the 3rd Naval District, headquartered in Natal-RN, it operates in patrolling Brazilian Jurisdictional Waters, aiming to safeguard resources in the territorial sea, contiguous zone, and exclusive economic zone, and suppress illicit activities (illegal fishing, smuggling, drug trafficking, and marine environmental pollution). It also contributes to the security of coastal facilities and offshore platforms against sabotage actions and conducts search and rescue operations within Brazil's area of responsibility.
The visitation aims to provide the public with the opportunity to learn about the Navy's operational resources, further promoting the importance of maritime awareness and the preservation of naval traditions.
