The Administration of the Port of Maceió (APMC) has once again reported an increase in the volume of goods handled, continuing its steady growth. In 2024, a total of 2,677,581 tons of solid bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo were handled, representing a 1.26% increase compared to the previous year.

In long-haul transportation, with exports to other countries, the highlights include the growth in goods such as bagged sugar, molasses, and diesel oil. Among imported goods in long-haul transportation, bulk fertilizer, salt, petroleum coke, clinker, and wheat stand out. In cabotage transportation, the most imported product was diesel oil.

The type of cargo that showed the greatest variation compared to the previous year was general cargo, registering a growth of 828.03%, with bagged sugar being the highlight.

The administrator of the Port of Maceió, Diogo Holanda, attributes the steady growth to efforts prioritizing logistics and infrastructure. "We started the year with the good news of another increase in cargo handling last year. Year after year, we deliver these results, showing growth each semester, which brings great satisfaction to the Port of Maceió Administration. We will continue maintaining operations, prioritizing good management, and ensuring excellence in logistics so that, by the end of this year, we can once again present growth in these numbers," stated the administrator.
