Port of Maceió presents an increase of 6.01% in the movement of goods in the 1st half of the year

The first half of 2024 showed an increase in goods handled at the Port of Maceió, compared to the same period last year. From January to June this year, the Port of Maceió handled 6.01% more than in 2023, totaling 1,495.122 tons of solid bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo. The first half of 2023 handled 1,410,423. 

Among the cargo handled, the highlight is the increase in exports of sugar in bags (75,028 tons), molasses (12,287 tons) and diesel oil (101 tons). Regarding imports, there was an increase in petroleum coke (25,648 tons), clinker (49,033 tons) and diesel oil (105,778 tons). 

The type of cargo that showed the greatest variation compared to last year was liquid bulk, registering growth of 25.24%, with emphasis on diesel oil, molasses and crude oil. 

The Port administrator, Diogo Holanda, highlights that the continuous growth in cargo movement through the Port of Maceió is the result of work that prioritizes logistics and infrastructure. "Once again, the Port of Maceió publishes the comparison that demonstrates a satisfactory result. In these six months of 2024, we guaranteed an increase of 6.01% in cargo, between import and export. We will continue to maintain operations, prioritizing good administration to ensure that at the end of the year we will have an even more favorable result", he pointed out.
