The bill to create the Alagoas Dock Company was approved this Wednesday (11) by the Chamber of Deputies. The project now moves to the Federal Senate. With its approval, the Port of Maceió will regain its administrative and financial autonomy.
According to the draft, all assets and liabilities related to the administration of the Organized Port of Maceió, including technical, bibliographic, and documentary archives, will be transferred to the new company. The new company, which will have private legal personality and operate as a corporation, will remain linked to the Ministry of Ports and Airports.
Highlighting the importance of this autonomy for Alagoas' economic growth, APMC administrator Diogo Holanda emphasized the pivotal role of Federal Deputy Arthur Lira in driving and shaping this project.
“This administrative progress is the result of significant effort and dedication by the President of the Chamber, Federal Deputy Arthur Lira. With this autonomy, the Port of Maceió will streamline its processes, ensure greater legal certainty, attract new companies, and generate jobs and income for the people of Alagoas,” said Holanda.
